Dear all,
Sebastian Lequime will give a presentation on “Evolutionary approaches to explore viral epidemiology and ecology" following Monday at the BEE seminar at 16 o'clock.
He is an associate professor in Groningen, and his expertise is in Evolutionary virology. Hereby he is especially interested in the characterisation of evolutionary pressures and dynamics that impact the evolution of viruses across scales. He worked with diverse systems, such as the origin of the measles virus, dengue virus, and west Nile virus, but also pest viruses in shrew genomes and influence viruses. In all these systems, he focused on emergences and zoonosis.
Currently, he is looking for collaborators to work in social insects. Among other things, he is interested in detecting novel viruses ( via Untargeted metagenomics) and epidiomolgy of viruses (known/unknown), so I think he would also be pretty interested in talking with people who don’t focus themselves on the virus but gathered collections of bees.
You can check out his work on his webpage https://lequimelab.eu/
Please get in touch with me if you would like to talk with Sebastian so I can schedule it until the end of the week. Also, we will go for dinner afterwards, and it would be nice if people would join us.
Also, the get-well card is in the kitchen if you want to add some wishes.
Best Pina
