below a link to a discussion of whether the expression “survival of the fittest” is a tautology (a circular definition): yes, it is and this can be better seen if rewritten as “survival of the ones better equipped to survive”);

and whether this means that darwin’s theory is also a tautology: no it isn’t, because, unlike tautologies darwin’s theory is testable and falsifiable.
