> Title: "sBombus: Leveraging computer vision and community science to develop a global bumble bee monitoring plan"
> Abstract: The greater accessibility of AI methods, including computer vision, along with increasing interest in participation in community science programs is providing an opportunity to develop large-scale data collection programs that can benefit science as well as enhance education and public appreciation for nature. Our group is building on combined work in these fields to develop a global bumble bee monitoring plan. To be successful, the plan must combine accurate AI models for identifying bee species with outreach and education programs to increase participation by an interdisciplinary group of scientists and the general public. We will discuss some of our previous and future efforts on this topic.
