Hi all,
Following our discussion today about the guppies in high-predation and
low-predation environments, indeed what they found was evolution not
plasticity.
> Guppies from high-predation environments had different phenotypes
than lower-predation ones;
> when some individuals, that had been evolving in its environment for
several generations, were transferred into a novel environment they had
lower fitness than the guppies that had been evolving in that specific
environment for several generations.
> This was true when guppies from high-predation were transferred to
lower-predation environment and when guppies from lower-predation were
transfered to high-predation environment.
Best
Paulo
