Subject: [EXTERN] Advertising 2 Aussie bumblebee PhD positions to IUSSI
CE members
Hello,
My name is James Makinson, I am a research fellow at the Hawkesbury
Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University, Australia.
I'm currently trying to recruit two PhD students to study the ecology of
the invasive Bombus terrestris population in Australia as part of a new
Hort Innovation grant titled "Progress on bumble bees as commercial
pollinators in Australia: update on risks and opportunities (PH23001)".
The goal of the project is to use radio tracking and neuromorphic AI
powered camera traps to collect unbiased data on the impacts of these
bees on Tasmanian agricultural systems and ecosystems. This data will be
used to assist Tasmanian industry and government stakeholders with
decision-making about both supporting and/or eradicating local
populations of the bees in the island state.
I was wondering whether you could share the advert link below and/or
attached flier among the IUSSI Central European Section email list, or
with any students you think might be interested in the opportunity:

The deadline for applications is Saturday next week, the 30th of November.
