Dear all,

I am sharing a joint approach to take action to tackle climate change, as well as their hope that they inspire others to do similar.  

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world mobilized to accelerate research and rapidly develop solutions. Now, we ask: why not the same for climate change?
Climate change is already disrupting the lives of millions, with far-reaching impacts on our economies, health, and ecosystems. Scientists hold a wealth of potential solutions to mitigate these effects, but we need a framework that allows rapid testing and deployment. 
In an unprecedented action, representatives from microbiology societies and institutions, supported by editors and publishers from 14 leading scientific journals, have united to publish a shared call to action, demonstrating a unified front from the scientific community. These microbiology organizations are offering their time and expertise to lead a global task force, collaborating with governments and stakeholders to accelerate climate solutions - and cut the red tape, rapidly test, fund, and deploy top microbiome and environmental technologies that can help combat climate change.
We also hope to inspire colleagues from other research areas who can contribute to fighting climate change by organizing similar actions and global task forces.
This is more than just another publication—it’s an emergency alert. The time to act is now. Let’s join forces to create a healthier planet for all.
