Dear all,

Thank you for the information about what happened on the weekend,
Robert. 
We have tried to move things out of the water impacted areas on
Saturday, including things from desks, mainly in the PhD room, but also
from the Bee lab. It was moved to dry offices, such as Belinda’s,
Antonella’s and the second PhD offfice (opposite Robert’s room).If  you
are looking for something,  it might be in one of these places. But
please feel free to contact any of us and we can try to remember where
things are. 
I hope that nothing of value was lost and that we can go back to normal
soon.

For those that missed the lab meeting yesterday: Happy New Year!

On the 31 December there was a flood in our building, oil which I
reported yesterday. Water escaped from an 8th floor lab (not our lab),
but it reached the 6th floor. It seems that it impacted mainly the
centre of the corridor and associated rooms (TA room, PCR room, Simon’s
Belinda’s and the central PhD room. Water is now mostly dried up. But
things on desks in the PhD room became a little wet. Please check these
out when you have time. Most (all) electrical equipment was saved by
Lukas, Anna and Fernando. We are looking into how to resolve the
problems that arose. More will be reported upon at the next lab meeting
(next Monday). 

Come what may, I welcome you all back to the lab for a productive and
academically stimulating rest of winter semester.
