Hi everyone,
yesterday PNAS released a special issue on insect decline, most of them
reviews:
https://www.pnas.org/content/118/2/e2023989118

For a list of the 11 papers covered see:
https://www.pnas.org/content/118/2

One paper is looking at the effect of agricultural intensification on
insects:
https://www.pnas.org/content/118/2/e2002548117

My take-home message from these papers: Trends in insect abundance are
complex.

Related to that, I came across a comment to the paper from van Klink (idiv):
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/370/6523/eabd8947
It highlights the difficulties of a meta-data-analysis. For example: "A
single dataset from Sweden accounted for 43% of freshwater sites". If that
is the case, no wonder that fresh-water insects are not declining, if you
know the quality of lakes and streams in Sweden. This could look quite
different in Central Europe with a high agricultural input.

Enjoy reading.
Julia
