maybe this is of interest for some. I guess the seminar goes along the lines of his talk at the IUSSI this year, but the discussion afterwards might be quite interesting

Summary: The study of social insects has been haunted by imprecise terminology for more than half a century. Eusociality is not a trait that can respond to selection and no testable predictions can be derived from that term, in sharp contrast with neo-Darwinian inclusive fitness theory. The clash between the two paradigms became apparent around 2010, but the incompatibility has been staring us in the face ever since the 1970s. I will argue that it is crucial to qualitatively distinguish between facultative, condition-dependent altruism and obligate, unconditional altruism, and between reproductive role differentiation in adult dominance hierarchies (skew) and caste differentiation in the organismal colonies of ants, bees, wasps and termites. The arguments that I will present are closely related to my kin-selection interpretation of the Major Transitions in Evolution presented in a recent book.
