At the site in Muencheberg, Brandenburg, the Senckenberg German <br>Entomological Institute (SDEI) is located in a research town in the <br>Berlin area with state-of-the-art scientific facilities.<br><br>The Senckenberg Gesellschaft fuer Naturforschung intends to fill at the <br>Senckenberg German Entomological Institute (SDEI), near Berlin, as soon <br>as possible the position of a<br><br>Scientific employee (m/f/d)<br>as head of the molecular lab<br>(full time / part time options available)<br><br>Your tasks:<br>- Research focusing on molecular phylogeny/taxonomy and/or <br>phylogeography of insects in combination with related areas, such as <br>evolution, ecology and conservation<br>- Management, coordination and development of the molecular genetics <br>laboratory including the curation of the tissue collection of SDEI<br>- Self-dependent acquisition of third-party funding and coordination of <br>such projects<br>- Integration and collaboration in core projects of SDEI and SGN<br>- Leadership and training of staff, willingness to teach early-career <br>scientists<br>- Responsibility for general functions and management processes of the <br>institute<br>Your qualification:<br>- A doctoral degree in biology/zoology or a related discipline<br>- Experience in up-to-date genetic methods including genomics and <br>respective bioinformatics<br>- Experience with genetic analysis of collection material is highly <br>welcome or needs to be acquired<br>- Experience to organize a molecular lab (and a tissue collection)<br>- International publications about insects, with a focus on genetic analyses<br>- Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary work, including <br>acquisition of third-party funded projects<br>- Solid knowledge of entomology, communication skills and experience <br>with international cooperation are desired<br>- A good command of English.
